Suburban housing in the modern view is a combination of privacy, peace and closeness to nature. In the design of a good cottage, a place is immediately laid for a recreation area. It can be a patio, gazebo or a canopy attached to the house: photo canopies can be viewed in our gallery. Auxiliary structures of this kind decorate the estate and expand the useful area of housing.

Materials for the construction of awnings
Frameworks for attached structures are made mainly of wooden beams or profiled steel pipes. But often for these purposes are used brick, stone, asbestos-cement pipes, filled with reinforced concrete. Everything depends on the purpose of the canopy and the assumed load on the frame.
The canopy attached to the house (the photo can be found on the Internet), adjoins the wall, taking on the weight of the snow slipping from the roof. To withstand such serious loads, the base of the extension should be strong enough.
The roof of the annex is usually covered with slate, profiled sheet , galvanized iron. But today the construction market offers a more interesting alternative – a polycarbonate canopy attached to the house. Photos of such structures confirm that the fiberglass is ideally combined with frames from any materials. For canopies are used cellular sheets with a thickness of 6-8 mm.
The main advantages of polycarbonate:
- strength. Plastic is 200 times stronger than glass. He does not fear hammer blows, hail, rocks;
- light weight. The material is 20 times lighter than glass. This allows you to create voluminous, but lightweight designs, reduces the complexity of work and the cost of construction;
- transparency. The thermoplastic of different thickness passes from 80% to 95% of natural light;
- flexibility. Cellular polycarbonate is the only translucent material that can be bent at negative temperatures. The main thing here is to take into account the allowable bending radius and the direction of the internal channels.
It is also important that the transparent polymer is easy to process. It can be drilled, cut with a saw, a bulgarian, an electric jigsaw .
Helpful advice! For canopies, you need to take polycarbonate with UF- protection, otherwise the material under the sun will quickly become cloudy and lose flexibility.
Canopy attached to the house: photo designs
Canopies attached to the house (the photo is on specialized resources) are divided into two groups: visors on consoles and tents installed on the capital pillars.
Console models can be as many as desired along the facade of the building, but the width should not exceed 2 m, so that the wind does not tear them from the wall. The purpose of such products is to protect the doors from the sun and rain, and also to improve the appearance of the building. Forged and carved canopies in the ensemble with the entrance group are able to transform the facade.
Support canopies are designed for the following purposes:
- arrangement of a place for summer holidays;
- protection from the rainfall of the site in front of the entrance, pool, passages around the house;
- car placement;
- awning over the barbecue area;
- awnings for household needs.
The use of polycarbonate makes it possible to create roofs of various configurations – single-pitched , gable, pyramidal, arched, concave and convex with a small bending radius. The canopy design can be improved using colored or tinted fiberglass.
Planning the installation of the canopy attached to the house, the photo of the finished projects must be viewed in advance. The choice of design depends on several criteria:
- the purpose and intended size of the object;
- total area of the site;
- wind and snow loads;
- annual precipitation;
- depth of snow cover;
- condition of the walls and foundation of the building;
- house design;
- availability of materials, tools and fasteners, as well as building skills, if the work will be done on its own.
Next, make a drawing of the canopy attached to the house (the photo is confirmed), setting the real dimensions of the height, length and depth of the structure. Based on this, determine the amount of material to create a frame and roof.
Standard dimensions of the carport:
- 250 × 500 cm for a machine up to 4 meters long;
- 350 × 660 cm for SUVs and cars longer than 4 m.
Helpful advice! A car with a load at the top must freely enter under the awning. But if the height of the roof exceeds 230 cm, the car will inevitably get precipitation. There is an exit – you need to change the angle of the roof.
If all the above aspects are taken into account, you can start preparing the site for construction. The marked area is cleared, trees and shrubs are uprooted. The existing turf is removed to the depth of the germination of the roots. The cleared area is leveled by pouring sand or small gravel, and rammed.
The housing issue is relevant for modern man. The purchase of a new apartment can cost a considerable amount, and utility payments are growing every month. The best option in this case is to build your own house. This will later save money, and leave housing for future generations. If you need a layout of a two-storey house. Read more
Under the supports of the canopy attached to the house (photo is clearly demonstrated), bore holes 20 cm in section, 50-60 cm deep (to the dense ground). At this stage, you need to provide for laying the cable under the lighting fixtures. The pitch of the supports depends on the area of the extension, as well as on the material of the frame and the severity of the roof. The heavier the design, the more often the pitch of the pillars (an average of 1-1.5 m). The advantage of such a foundation is that it does not need to dock with the main foundation of the building.
In the finished cavities fall asleep on a bucket of rubble, they are installed in vertical racks and poured with concrete. Each pillar is set according to the level. The second option – in the pits concreting the embedded parts with brackets, and they already fix the poles.
Materials before the installation should also be prepared: wood impregnated with antiseptic, olifat or painted in the chosen color. The timber is chosen dry and necessarily oskurenny, otherwise under the bark the woodworms will be quickly managed.
Helpful advice! E If the house is located in the hollow, the ends of wooden poles further flashing (wrapped with a polyethylene or ruberoidnyj jacketed hot poured bitumen).
Metal racks must be covered with a primer, which contains zinc phosphate. And it is better to immediately purchase a galvanized or aluminum profile.
While the concrete in the pits is gaining strength, you can arrange a floor covering for the canopy. Options:
- pour concrete screed;
- lay the paving slab or board;
- fill it with sand or gravel.
Installation of the canopy from polycarbonate attached to the house
Having sustained a certain time for concrete to grasp (10-15 days, depending on the air temperature), we begin assembling the structure. First , several brackets are attached to the outer wall of the house, to which the polycarbonate canopy will be attached . A transverse beam is mounted on them.
Overlap of the canopy
Next, the top harness is produced. The ends of the concreted vertical pillars are connected first with a transverse beam, then with each other. This is done using parallel profiles. If the framework is metallic, the parts are welded, if the wooden frame is pulled together by steel corners . Weld seams are cleaned, primed and painted.
The rafters are fastened to the crossbeams in 60 cm increments. The connection with the load-bearing beam attached to the wall is carried out using steel corners . The lining is laid across the rafters, with a distance of 30 cm, and is fixed with screws. Diameter of the beam for the frame:
- Racks – 120 × 120 mm.
- Cross beams – 100 × 100 mm.
- The rafters are 70 × 70 mm.
- The lining is 50 × 50 mm.
Section of the steel profile for the frame:
- racks – 40 × 60 mm;
- rafters and crate – 30 × 50 mm.
Installation of roofing
The sheets of fiberglass are cut to size and screwed to the crate, pre-drilled in them holes for fasteners. It should be ensured that the plastic cells are pointing downwards – to drain the condensate. Self-tapping screws must have a rubber thermowell. The sheets themselves are joined together by an H-shaped profile.
Overlapping the polycarbonate canopy attached to the house (photos can be seen in various magazines), it is necessary to follow the rules of conjugation of compression joints. Simply put, it is necessary to leave small gaps between the panels, so that the polymer can expand without hindrance when heated. The dimensions of the holes for the fasteners should also have a margin of 2-3 mm. Protective film from the sheet is removed after the installation.
The finished canopy does not require special care. It is enough to wash plastic with clean water from time to time, so that it can function without fail in its 50 years.
