How do I know if my deposit has been protected?

As of  6th April 2007, if you as a landlord or letting agent take a deposit for an assured shorthold tenancy, then it is required by law (in England and Wales) to be protected in a tenancy deposit scheme.

We are proud to be using The Deposit Protection Service to protect our tenants’ deposits.

If you are a landlord or tenant and you want to make sure that your deposit is protected, you can do so on the DPS website. You will need the following information:

  • Deposit ID (This would be included with the prescribed information)
  • Tenant Surname
  • Tenancy Start Date
  • Property Postcode
  • Deposit Amount
